In light of the diverse and pressing challenges we face, a strategy to mitigate the highs levels of EUP and related sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues, particularly in the East and Southern African region is premised on applied research, regional networking and advocacy, high level engagements, technical support, and capacity strengthening activities. To foster meaningful dialogue and critical reflection on these pressing matters, we aim to convene a two-day meeting to address these issues. The pivotal question we will explore is: How can we effectively reduce the incidence of EUP while enhancing the quality of life and securing a brighter future for both our female and male adolescents?

The conference is contextualised within the triple and interrelated threats of early and intended pregnancies, sexual and gender-based violence, and HIV and AIDS.

With this in mind, the summit aims, among other things, to:

• • Bring together key stakeholders from government, civil society, academia, development partners, relevant UN agencies and the private sector to deliberate on the threat of teenage pregnancy in relation to, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS and related SRHR challenges among young people in the ESA region.
  • Explore innovative cross-sectoral approaches, strategies and actions to mitigate EUP, particularly their intersection with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on education, environment, climate change, livelihoods, gender, and adolescent health issues.

• What are the existing gaps in the evidence regarding the drivers of reducing EUP in the region?
• How can we improve policy dialogue to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive approach to addressing EUP and promoting SRHR?
• What opportunities are available to enhance collaboration and strengthen synergies among academic institutions, development and implementation partners, and civil society in promoting effective practices for reducing rates of EUP
